Couture Wedding Gowns by Alisa Benay Evoke a Renaissance Era of Yesterday

Inspired Wedding Gowns, Wedding Dress creations from the Victorian and Edwardian renaissance eras, Alisa Benay presents her endearing line of timeless wedding gowns and corsets for the modern day bride.

Alisa Benay’s fascination with historical fashions came from the Victorian and Edwardian eras where she loved the silhouette created by the corset and the drama of the bustle.

Alisa’s wedding gowns are fresh, contemporary interpretations of vintage designs. Instead of re-creating authentic historical replicas, Alisa takes her inspiration from the breath taking gowns of yesterday and molds them into dream gowns fit for a stylish bride.

We fell IN LOVE with her charmingly unique couture wedding gown designs and certain you will too.

Charleston Weddings Presents The Bridal Couture Runway Show

For Immediate Release, February 2008

Bridal Couture Runway Show Premier Charleston bridal boutiques and local bridal designers showcase an array of dazzling wedding gowns at the first annual Bridal Couture runway show during Charleston magazine’s Charleston Fashion Week 2008. The show, presented by Charleston Weddings magazine, features gowns from Copper Penny Bridal and Gown Boutique of Charleston, as well as inspired original dresses by area designers Jodi Moylan of White, and Kate Nevin alongside tuxedos from Charleston Formal Wear at Berlin’s.

On Saturday, March 29, discover a multitude of styles and designers during the Bridal Couture show, including whimsical dresses by Monique Lhuillier and Spanish silk and Chantilly lace frocks by Barcelona-based designer Manuel Mota. Also appearing on the runway are Badgley Mischka gowns that radiate old Hollywood glamour, Renella de Fina’s modern twists on classic style, and Jenny Packham’s beaded masterpieces.

Sip mimosas, enjoy light hors d’oeuvres, and snag some glamorous door prizes that every bride-to-be would adore, all while watching models whisk down the runway donning an array of elegant bridal gowns. No need to bring anything old, new, borrowed, or blue.

The second annual Charleston magazine’s Charleston Fashion Week is a five-night celebration of the city’s flourishing retail and design community, featuring runway shows from more than 30 local retailers, the bridal couture show, and the debut of six local designers. With close to 100 designers presented, chic after-parties each night, and a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Charleston chapter of Dress for Success, this year’s Charleston Fashion Week will be the “haute”-est event of the season. CFW 2008 will be held March 25-29 under the tents in Marion Square in downtown Charleston. Visit www.charlestonfashionweek.com for more information regarding the designers, schedule of events, sponsors, tickets, and more.

The Wedding Gown Hall of Shame

Oh my goodness, I have to share this with every bride out there. I almost cringed to see what some bridal designers considered to be IN FASHION at one time or another. Obviously it will make any bride-to-be chuckle, at the sheer nonsense of these Wedding Gown Hall of Shame winners!

These are by far, probably the worst expressions of couture fashion, I’ve personally NOT had the pleasure of seeing, thank goodness….in a long LONG time. Well if nothing else, you’ll get a good laugh out of it!

Be prepared to be shocked!

I present to you the Wedding Gown Hall of Shame

ENJOY…..maybe?? LOL
